In this class, you will learn how to form a 4" planter and saucer out of pre-rolled clay slabs. Then we’ll customize our planters with colors, textures, stencil designs, stamps, and alphabet pasta letters. Planters will be fired, glazed and ready for pick up the following Thursday at Atelier St. Pete (map).

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Kayla Harbeitner received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ringling College of Art and Design and was an apprentice at Charlie Parker Pottery for four years. She brings traditional art into the craft by creating decorative and functional work with etching and painting. In the Fall of 2022, Kayla founded Atelier St. Pete, creating a local pottery studio and gallery in northern St. Pete.

During this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, we’ll discuss the history of the terrarium and learn about the elements that make up these mini ecosystems. You’ll get to choose your own plants and we’ll guide you through step-by-step instructions on how to build your terrarium in a closed glass container.

A large glass container, pixie plants, and all materials needed to build your own terrarium

About the instructor:
Amanda Hill is a lifelong plant lover who descends from a family of horticulturalists. She founded Wild Roots eight years ago to share the magic of plants with her community.
